How to get to La Spezia

The Cinque Terre area is located in the north-west of Italy, in the Liguria region. You can get here by plane, by train or by car.

The train is definitely the best solution to move between the villages of the Cinque Terre.

Car is not recommended because the villages have a few parking lots; then, the circulation of vehicles inside the villages is forbidden.

La Spezia is the most important city in this area and it’s well connected to the Cinque Terre by train and by boat (during the touristic season).

Our boat tours can depart either from Manarola (Cinque Terre) or La Spezia (Passeggiata Morin or Porto Mirabello).

By Plane

If you get to the Cinque Terre by plane you can consider to fly into the Genoa International Airport: then, you've to take a local train to the Cinque Terre or to La Spezia (distance is about 130km)

But the best airport to fly into for Cinque Terre (and La Spezia) is the Pisa International Airport: also in this case you've to take a local train from the airport to reach your final destination.

By Train

The city of La Spezia has good connections by train with all the most important Italian cities: you can get here from Genoa, Pisa, Florence, Milan and Rome. Please, check your itinerary on

When you're in Cinque Terre area - or in La Spezia - we highly recommend to move only by train, considering it as the best solution. During the high season the option train+boat is available too.

By Car

Coming by car is also possible but you've consider that the circulation is difficult in the Cinque Terre area, with restrictions, few parkings and narrow roads. Then, car are not allowed inside the villages.

If you plan to get here by car, we can recommend to stay in La Spezia where you can find the best parking solutions.
The highway A12 connects La Spezia with Genoa and Pisa.
